Glass on Glass Classes - Enameling and Kiln Forming Workshops
Instructor: Joseph Drury
Wednesday Evenings, 6:30-9:30 pm (by Appointment)
Saturday Afternoons, 2:00-5:00 pm (by Appointment)
Cost: $65 per session, $175 for three sessions. Discounts for groups of 3 or more (registering at the same time).
In these classes, you will learn to create from recycled and repurposed glass sources and special Thompson Enamels. Recycling 'glass into art' techniques will be taught by accomplished artist and sculptor Joseph Drury. While these techniques can be applied to enameling on any surface, the primary focus will be on learning how to apply enamels to glass for the creation of sculpture, jewelry, window hangings, bowl and plate forms. These workshops are suitable for all students beginning through advanced. Beginning students learn safety, proper ways to apply and fire the enamel. Each student produces at least one artwork per session!
All materials supplied for the workshops. Workshops are limited to only 12 students per session.
Register now by contacting Joe Drury directly at (859) 240-0046; e-mail joedrury@msn.com, www.joedrury.com OR register through Thompson Enamel (859) 291-3800, sales@thompsonenamel.com

Perfect for any
enameler!
Thompson Enamels are lead-free
glass products available in
various particle sizes and formulated to fit a variety of metal and glass substrates. These products are described in terms of
temperature and expansion to help you select a suitable enamel
for your
particular project. The best way to select an enamel
is to
determine their properties in the following sequence:
(1) Fusing Temperature (2) Fit or Compatibility and (3)
Color.
It is important to pre-test enamels
prior to using;
1) printed color charts do not always perfectly
match the
product they represent, and 2) there may be slight variations
in the character of any given
enamel from batch to batch.
80 mesh enamel is the standard particle
size available to
our customers unless specified otherwise. 80
mesh is glass
ground to a particle size which is slightly finer than
granular
sugar. It is normally applied by sifting, but can
also be mixed
with water and charged onto the substrate surface.
6/20 mesh enamels are particles that
have an average diameter
of about 1/16" to 1/8". These particles are ideal
for bead making.
Lump enamels are particles that range from
1/16" to 1" in diameter.
A variety of painting and liquid enamels are also available for
specific substrates listed in our catalog.
For expanded information about the
products we offer and
the technology involved to use them, see the description of the
Thompson Enamel Workbook.
